ED Live Dashboard (EDLD) is a free, open-source companion that follows your journal and live game state to show your session and career in one place. It covers combat, trade, mining, exploration, exobiology, missions, PowerPlay, colonisation and assets. It also includes a surface-mining survey with an optional squadron-shared sheet, a streamer stats overlay, and in-game radio. It runs as a desktop window, a terminal dashboard or a scrolling feed on Linux, Windows and macOS.

ED Live Dashboard (EDLD) is a career and live-session dashboard for Elite Dangerous. It reads your journal and the game's live status files as you play, and shows what is happening in the current session alongside what it adds to your career.

New in 20260923

Radio

- Radio Sidewinder, Hutton Orbital Radio and Radio Skvortsov play from a Radio tab in the Crew / Alerts window, in both the desktop and terminal interfaces.

- Station list, play/stop, volume and mute.

- The current song title, where the station sends one.

- Stations can be added or removed from the tab itself, either globally or for one profile.

- Nothing plays until Play is pressed.

- Any new alert brings the Crew / Alerts view to the front while the music carries on.

Surface Mining Survey

- Automatic recording

- Planetary deposits are recorded as you work them, with their position taken from `Status.json` because no journal event carries one.

- Bodies are surveyed from their DSS signal count.

- A deposit is confirmed when you drive onto it.

- A worked-out site is kept with its depletion date rather than deleted.

- Ctrl+D adds or edits the deposit you are parked on, chosen by which one you are standing nearest.

Shared Survey Sheet (experimental)

- Publishes deposits to a Google Sheet and reads back what other commanders have found, so the survey compass can point at sites you have never visited.

- Duplicates are removed on the sheet's side, keyed on a stable deposit id.

- Local observations always take priority over the sheet.

- Bad entries are retired by flagging rather than deleting.

- No Google Cloud project is needed: a small Apps Script bound to the sheet, a URL and a token.

- Ctrl+G publishes pending deposits immediately.

- Template (provided in the repo, import into blank/new Google Sheet) for squadrons that share a mining survey.

- Filter by system or commodity, and sort by clicking any column header.

- Rows alternate in colour and worked-out sites are struck through.

- Styled after the game's HUD, with five colour schemes (Classic HUD, Federation, Empire, Alliance, Thargoid) or a custom one.

Streamer Stats Overlay

- Selected statistics drawn over the game window

- Three zones across the top, plus columns docked down the left and right edges.

- Panels for commander, ship, income, PowerPlay, cargo, the survey compass, combat, exploration, exobiology, mining, trade, missions and Odyssey.

- Each panel shows career figures, session figures, or both.

- Appearance

- Uses the cockpit HUD orange by default, ships with its own fonts, and supports themes.

- Diagnostics - `--overlay-doctor` explains why nothing is showing.

- Platforms - Supported on Linux under X11 and experimental on Windows. On Linux, transparency needs a running compositor. Wayland cannot host it, because Wayland does not let an application keep itself on top or position itself.

Three interfaces, one dashboard

- All three interfaces are built from the same layout and components, so they show the same windows and the same data:

- A native desktop window.

- A full terminal dashboard, which also works over SSH from another machine.

- A plain scrolling feed.

Keybindings are the same in the desktop window and the terminal dashboard.

Session & Career

- Session statistics

- Tabs for Combat, Trade, Mining, Exploration, Missions, Exobiology and PowerPlay, with totals and per-hour rates. Only the activities you have done this session are shown.

Session / Career window

- The session's output with every income stream totalled in one place. Lifetime figures for Combat, Exploration, Exobiology, Mining, Trade, Credits, Carrier and PowerPlay. A career summary of the headline numbers.

- Lifetime financial ledger

- Earnings and spending by category.

- Vouchers issued versus redeemed.

- Money moving in and out of your carrier's bank.

- Built from 27 journal event types, because some of the game's own Statistics totals are unreliable.

- At-Risk Holdings

- Unredeemed bounties, combat bonds, trade vouchers, cartographic data and exobiology samples. The total carries over between sessions and resets to zero on death.

Commander, Ship & Assets

- Commander window

- Identity, squadron, home location and PowerPlay standing.

- Hull, shields and fuel, and rank progression.

- Adapts when you are in an SRV, on foot or in a fighter.

Assets

- Wallet and net worth.

- Stored ships with their loadouts, and stored modules.

- Fleet carrier and squadron carrier tabs, shown only when you have one.

Ship window

- Cargo

- Read live from `Cargo.json`, cheapest per tonne first, with stolen goods flagged, limpets listed separately, a Spansh target-market price comparison, and SRV cargo alongside.

- Modules

- Sorted by power priority, then health, so damage shows up first.

- Engineering

- Raw, manufactured and encoded materials, plus the Odyssey ShipLocker.

Crew / Alerts window

- NPC crew and ship-launched fighter status, with each fighter variant identified correctly.

Combat, Alerts & Session Safety

- Combat tracking - Kills, bounties, combat bonds, deaths and fighter losses, with kill timing and totals by faction.

- Alerts for:

- Shields down, hull damage, fighter lost and ship destroyed.

- Fuel, with warning and critical thresholds by percentage and by estimated time remaining.

- Cargo scans, police scans and security attacks.

- Inactivity: a falling kill rate, or a long gap without kills.

Session management (optional)

- Can quit the game on fighter loss, low fuel or low hull. Opt-in, Solo mode only, and switched on or off with Ctrl+K.

Trade & Markets

- Sell table (Ctrl+S)

- Shows what the current market pays, most valuable first, opening on mineable commodities.

- Also saved as Markdown and HTML for use outside EDLD.

- Carrier markets and prices no NPC will honour are excluded.

- Commodity catalogue

- Every commodity seen at any market, kept permanently even though the game overwrites its market file at every dock.

Exploration & Exobiology

- Exploration window.

- For each body: honk, scan and mapping state, with current and fully-mapped cartographic values.

- Under each body: its biological signals, sampled species, a clonal-distance helper and predicted genera.

Missions & Colonisation

- Objectives window

- Accepted missions grouped by type.

- The massacre stack summarised by the faction that issued it, with value and progress.

- Colonisation construction sites with outstanding requirements and delivery progress, including Raven Colonial integration (experimental).

Data & Integrations

- Where data comes from

- Frontier's Companion API when you are logged in, then the journal, then `Status.json`.

- Companion API

- Logging in with your own Frontier account (OAuth2) provides the official fleet roster, market prices, fleet carrier finances and squadron details.

- Opt-in uploads to EDDN, EDSM, EDAstro and Inara.

- Discord webhooks for alerts, with optional @mentions for the most serious ones.

Also Included:

- Built-in colour themes, including one matched to the cockpit HUD, plus a template for custom themes. Themes apply to both the desktop and terminal interfaces.

- Named commander profiles, selected at launch.

- A plugin architecture with per-commander data isolation and an enable/disable dialog.

- Searchable pickers for home location and Spansh target market.

- Automatic notices when a new release is published.

- Guides for Elite on Linux with Steam, Proton and Minimal ED Launcher; running two accounts at once; and viewing the dashboard on a second machine.

Installation

- Prebuilt binaries for Linux (x86_64), Windows and macOS are on the GitHub Releases page, with SHA-256 checksums. Nothing else needs to be installed.

- From source on Linux: use the included `install.sh`.

EDLD is open source under the MIT License. It is an unofficial community tool and is not affiliated with Frontier Developments. It reads only the journal and status files the game writes for companion tools. It does not modify the game, inject code or read process memory, and it contacts Frontier's servers only through the Companion API, with your own credentials, when you choose to connect.
