# Elite Dangerous Journal Analyzer & Exploration Orrery
> "What kind of star system was that one I passed through after only a quick FSS honk? When did I visit?"
A dedicated flight log companion that reawakens the exploration records sleeping in your journals,
visualizing your discovery history and astrophysics data with clarity.
## What it is
A local-first desktop application for Windows 10/11 that automatically analyzes and monitors
your Elite Dangerous journal files (`Journal.*.log`). Everything is stored in a local SQLite
database on your own PC. No account, no forced upload, no constant telemetry.
## Key features
- **Real-time journal parsing**: jumps, FSS, DSS, landings and biological sampling are tracked
automatically, with a LIVE mode for use during play. Cumulative jump distance and jump count
are always visible.
- **Exploration payouts**: FSS, DSS (with efficiency bonus), first-discovery and first-mapped values.
- **Interactive Orrery**: multi-star systems, circumbinary planets, moons and uniquely named bodies
rendered as a parent-child hierarchy, with zoom (0.12x-40x) and drag. Also available as a
hierarchy tree, flat list and body inspector.
- **Exobiology**: candidate genera/species from environmental data, payouts including the
5x first-sampler bonus, colony distance and sampling progress.
- **Advanced system filters**: body classes, physical traits, stellar spectral types and luminosity
classes, with minimum-count thresholds (e.g. "at least 2 ELWs", "at least 3 M-class stars")
and ALL/ANY matching.
- **Bookmarks and notes**: bookmark bodies, give them aliases, write Markdown notes, and search
across systems, bodies, aliases and notes.
- **Rare body detection**: unusual bodies are flagged with badges. Green Gas Giants are marked
only when confirmed by a Codex entry.
- **Bilingual**: full Japanese / English switching across the UI, Orrery, settings and exported HTML.
## Optional addons (all disabled by default)
Enable only what you need from Settings > Addons. Changes apply after a restart.
- **EDSM Manual Sync / Spansh Integration**: on-demand lookups of system data, ring hotspots and
mining locations. These are the only features that contact external servers, and they are
grouped under one "External Online Access" switch with a confirmation prompt.
- **Text-to-Speech**: voice alerts (Web Speech API or local VOICEVOX) for first discoveries,
high-value biological bodies and rare bodies, including an alert when a Green Gas Giant is
first listed in the Codex.
- **Export & Share**: standalone HTML system maps, PNG summary cards with embedded metadata
(drag one back into the app to restore the data), and short review text for Twitch, Discord or X.
The shared HTML can also be given to an LLM to help reason about whether a system's body layout
could be physically plausible. (This does not require the app: a single system's FSS-complete
journal data is enough.)
- **Astrophysical Rarity Score**: a 100-point score based on orbital dynamics, habitable zones
and mass classes.
- **Exobiology Prediction**: likely species and payouts from environmental data.
## Requirements
Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Standalone EXE, or run from source with Python 3.10+.
